Slide Platform 900

The Slide Platform 900 is a great way to incorporate a slide into your junior adventure playground area.

Play Value

The triangular shape of the slide platform allows for three routes of access and egress. One side is a slide (choose a double plastic slide or a wide stainless steel slide), one side has a flexform sling seat with small holes that may help children to pull themselves up. The third side is a low post and rope.

The Slide Platform 900 can be functionally linked with other Post and Rope elements, Log Piles or Log Jams (where available) or can be a stand-alone playground structure. When not functionally linked to other pieces, bog stilt stepping forms are added to the post and rope to give easier access to the climbing component.

Merits

Children love slides. The Slide Platform 900 is a great cost-effective option to include a junior slide in a natural playground. The Slide Platform may be a welcomed alternative where a hill slide is not an option. The flexform seat has some movement so it is a fun surface to climb on with friends. The post and rope climber is a low-risk challenge for young children who may be developing early balance skills. The Slide Platform is a beautiful, accessible complement to other natural wood playground structures.

Children can play alone or with others; the platform is large enough to hold several children who may imagine themselves on the bow of a ship or perched in a treehouse!

Materials

The Slide Platform 900 is built with hand-processed Robinia pseudoacadia logs sourced from Ontario and the Northeastern United States. Logs have a minimum diameter of 6 inches and anti-crack bolts are added to the ends of each log to reduce cracking. The slide deck platform is made of Accoya.

Robinia posts are all processed and hand sanded. The wood texture is a pleasant sensory experience. The black flexform sling connects from the transfer bench to the slide platform.

There is an option to choose either a plastic or stainless steel slide.

Accessibility

When located on an accessible route, the Slide Platform 900 has an accessible feature. A transfer bench allows children to move from a mobility device to the gradual sloping sling of flexform. Small holes in the flex form surface provide hand support to allow children to pull themselves up to the slide platform.
