Rope and Log

The Rope and Log is a simple balancing, natural playground element. Children can imagine traversing a river or tightrope walking in a circus. The Rope and Log Post and Rope play element will increase core strength as children practice ‘balancing’ while holding onto a flexible rope. The Rope and Log is best used in combination with other Post and Rope pieces.

Play Value

Post and Rope is a collection of versatile natural play features that can be used alone or in combination with each other to make play circuits for children of all ages. Bog stilts may be added to the posts to functionally link to other play elements.

Merits

The vertical posts of Post and Rope elements can be left natural, or stained in different colours to coordinate with other colours in the site. In addition to being wobbly and challenging climbing elements, they foster the development of fine motor skills and coordination by gripping ropes and finding a footing.

Materials

All of the logs used in Post and Rope elements are black locust. The ropes are nylon-wrapped steel core, with nylon or aluminum connectors, as selected.

Accessibility

When located on an accessible surface, Post and Rope elements are accessible ground level play features.
